Optometrist (OD) Accreditation Information
SECO submits course materials to various states and accrediting entities for Continuing Education (CE) course approval. Select Courses are approved for CE Credit for Optometrists. See below for specific accreditation details.
Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education
SECO International has received unrestricted educational grant support for the SECO 2024 continuing education program from the following grantors: Alcon, EssilorLuxottica, Bausch + Lomb, Physicians' Education Resource (PER), Review of Optometry, VSP Global, Premier Academy 360, Regeneron, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. administered by Janssen Global Services, LLC.
Disclosure of Financial Relationships with Ineligible Companies
This educational activity was developed by SECO, independent of influence by ineligible companies to ensure that the education is fair and balanced and that any clinical content presented supports safe, effective patient care. OD Accreditations by Type / State
Below are lists of SECO 2024 courses with the indicated accreditations. Each list provides the SECO course number and course approval numbers as applicable.
NOTE: Do not assume that the courses you registered for will be automatically approved by your board just because it is on this list. Check directly with your state board to clarify any license requirements or special conditions attached to the acceptance.
Kentucky (KY) Board of Optometry - ETP Courses
Specific courses are approved by the Kentucky Board of Optometry as “Expanded Therapeutic” (ETP). Check with the KY Board of Optometry for specific ETP requirements that may pertain to your license.
Credit Reporting: SECO will submit to COPE/ARBO within 30 days following the activity if the appropriate OE Tracker number is correctly entered on the attendee registration form. When using the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry's OE Tracker database to document your continuing education, please forward the printout with your signature to the Kentucky Board as soon as you complete the education. This will expedite the release of your license during renewals.
Transcript Quality/Continuing Education with Examination Courses (CEE/TQ)
Select courses offer “CEE/TQ” for optometrists licensed states requiring “Transcript Quality” courses for relicensure. Check with your state’s Board of Optometry for specific requirements that may pertain to your license.
If you enroll in and complete a CEE/TQ approved course, you will receive an email shortly after the congress event with a link to complete the CEE/TQ test online. CEE/TQ tests must be completed within 90 days of the email receipt. If you do not receive the post-event email, please contact education@secostaff.com.
Credit Reporting: SECO will submit attendance to FL CE Broker within 30 days following the activity if the appropriate CE Broker license number is correctly entered on the attendee registration form. Once tests are completed, please allow up to five business ays for UAB to review and process test results. CE credit will be updated to CEE/TQ in FL CE Broker within 2 weeks of test completion.
COPE Accredited Courses / ARBO Reporting
SECO makes every effort to secure accreditation for OD continuing education as appropriate through the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry (ARBO), Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE).
SECO submits continuing education course content to ARBO for COPE approval and courses selected for Continuing Education with Examination/Transcript Quality (CEE/TQ) are noted as well.
Credit Reporting: SECO will submit to COPE/ARBO within 30 days following the activity if the appropriate OE Tracker number is correctly entered on the attendee registration form.
All COPE-accredited continuing education courses are strictly monitored to comply with licensing board regulations for accreditation and within The Optometric Guidelines for Independent Continuing Education (ICE). If you do not meet the required attendance rules, you will not receive credit.
CE Broker Optometry Boards (Florida, South Carolina, Texas)
Select courses have been approved by Florida (FL), South Carolina (SC) and/or Texas (TX) Boards of Optometry via the CE Broker system.
Credit Reporting: SECO will submit attendance to CE Broker (SC, FL, TX) within 30 days following the activity if the appropriate CE Broker license number is correctly entered on the attendee registration form.
Pennsylvania (PA) Board of Optometry
A select course has been approved by the Pennsylvania Board of Optometry for opioid education.
Credit Reporting: The attendee is responsible for reporting their attendance to the PA board on their own behalf.
Illinois Board (IL) of Optometry
All live OD courses have been approved by the Illinois Board of Optometry. The Department recognizes that SECO International, LLC has complied with the provisions of the Illinois statutes and or rules and regulation and is hereby authorized to engage in the activity of: Licensed Optometry CE Sponsor, expiration date of March 31, 2024, license number 138.000093.
Credit Reporting: The attendee is responsible for reporting their attendance to the IL board on their own behalf.
