Optician / Allied Healthcare Professional (AHP)
Accreditation Information
SECO submits course materials to various states and accrediting entities for Continuing Education (CE) course approval. Courses may be approved for CE Credit for Opticians and/or Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHP) which include Opticians, Paraoptometrics, Technicians and Practice Administrators. See below for specific accreditation details.

AOA Paraoptometrics (CPO, CPOA, CPOT, CPOC)
The Commission on Paraoptometric Certification (CPC) utilizes a sub-committee to review continuing education courses designed specifically for education of optometric staff. Courses that receive CPC approval are appropriate for certification maintenance of the paraoptometric certifications, CPO, CPOA, CPOT and CPOC. Note that not all courses are appropriate for renewal of the CPOC.

Credit Reporting: The attendee is responsible for reporting to AOA PARA on their own behalf
American Board of Opticianry (ABO) / National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE)
Select Courses are approved by the The American Board of Opticianry (ABO) and/or the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE). Courses will be designated by ABO Category and Level; Level I (basic), Level II (intermediate) or Level III (advanced).
ABO/NCLE governs the following certifications: American Board of Opticianry Certification (ABOC), ABO Advanced Certification (ABO-AC), ABO Masters Certification (ABOM), National Contact Lens Certification (NCLEC), NCLE Advanced Certification (NCLE-AC), and NCLE Masters Certification (NCLEM).
Credit Reporting: NEW! SECO will submit CE hours to ABO/NCLE within 30 days following the activity if the appropriate ABO and/or NCLE certification number is correctly entered on the attendee registration form.
CE Broker Optician Boards (Florida, South Carolina)
SECO will submit CE hours to FL and SC Optician Boards via CE Broker
within 30 days following the activity if the appropriate FL or SC Optician license number
is correctly entered on the attendee registration form.
NOTE: If you hold both an Optician and Contact Lens Dispensing license with SC, enter your Optician license during registration, then email education@secostaff.com to notify of your CL license number as well.
We will communicate with you following the event to ensure CE is submitted correctly.
North Carolina (NC) Board of Opticians
Select courses have been approved by the North Carolina (NC) Board of Opticians as either Spectacle, Contact Lens, or Management/CL.
Credit Reporting: SECO will submit to NC Opticians Board within 30 days following the activity if the appropriate NC license number is correctly entered on the attendee registration form.
Other Optician State Boards (AZ, GA, KY, NV, TN)
SECO is an approved provider for the Tennessee Board of Dispensing Opticians. Select optician courses are approved by the TN Board of Dispensing Opticians.
Select optician courses have been approved by the Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians GA Approval # GBDO-26-0001.
Many states (such as AZ, NV and TN) automatically accept optician CE courses that are approved by ABO/NCLE. Check with your state board regarding CE approval requirements.
